Handmade Dyed Blue Jade And Glass Drop Earrings

Blue Jade And Glass Drop Earrings?  Yes Blue Jade. 

Unfortunately there’s not many naturally occurring blue gemstones, sapphire is probably the most notable but this is classed as a precious stone and therefore is more likely to be facet cut and set into mounts as a ring or pendant. So for creating blue designs I have to often buy dyed gems, these being jade (normally green).

On each of these earrings, I have used a headpin with a fancy triple bead detail at the end. This holds the four beads, a large dyed blue jade at the bottom with a red glass bead on top and then this is repeated.

I have developed this red and blue range as a high Summer, Nautical inspired theme.

The Jades are 8mm and the glass beads are 3mm.
